Practice Solutions strives toward Class II medical device conformance
OTTAWA, March 19 /CNW Telbec/ - Practice Solutions Software Inc. started the process of working towards classification of Class II medical device for its EMR system as mandated by Health Canada.
In order to receive this classification, Practice Solutions Software Inc must obtain the ISO 13485:2003 certification. Health Canada issued a notice noting that any clinical management system such as Electronic Medical records (EMR) needs to meet the requirements of Class II medical devices, including ISO certification, in order to be classified as such. Practice Solutions considers certification on these types of medical devices important from a regulation perspective and is highly committed to completing the certification requirements.
"Offering our clients both high performance and top quality software is a priority for Practice Solutions Software. Working towards the Class II medical device conformance, including the ISO 13485:2003 certification is just another step in ensuring that our secure product is a first choice for physicians, and complies with all the high standards required by our governing bodies," said Rob Thorpe, President, Practice Solutions Software Inc.
Health Canada's move to have electronic medical records designated as a Class II medical device ensures that all patient management systems are safe for those patients that are involved in their use.
