OTTAWA, Sept. 15 /CNW Telbec/ - PPP Canada launched today the P3 Canada Fund with the issuance of the Round One call for project submissions. The Government of Canada established the $1.2 billion P3 Canada Fund to support public infrastructure projects procured via public-private partnerships (P3s). The deadline for Round One project submissions is October 30, 2009.
The P3 Canada Fund is a merit-based program designed to generate an increase in P3 public infrastructure projects that achieve value for taxpayers, develop the P3 market in Canada and result in public benefits. Projects from provinces, territories, municipalities and First Nations are eligible. A project submission guide and additional information is available at www.p3canada.ca.
The call was issued to provinces and territorial governments, which can submit provincial/territorial and municipal projects. The call was also issued to Indian and Northern Affairs Canada to help identify and pursue P3 projects of interest to First Nations. There will be multiple calls for project submissions over the life of the Fund.
"P3s have demonstrated their ability to deliver public infrastructure on-time and on-budget" said Minister Flaherty. "The P3 Canada Fund will help to open the door to greater possibilities for P3s in Canada."
PPP Canada is a Crown Corporation that was recently established to work with the public and private sectors to support P3s and encourage the further development of Canada's P3 market.
