Third generation of the Cayenne makes its Canadian debut along with a second Panamera body style option
MONTREAL, Jan. 18, 2018 /CNW/ - Porsche is proud to introduce the all-new Cayenne as a Canadian premiere at the Montreal International Auto Show. Its powerful turbo engines, new gearbox, new chassis systems, innovative display, and control concept with total connectivity will take both sport and comfort to the next level. The Cayenne is heavily inspired by the iconic 911 sports car: The third edition of the SUV, which has also been enhanced visually, now has mixed tires and rear-axle steering for the first time. Despite its significantly extended standard equipment, the Cayenne sees a weight drop of up to 65 kg compared to its predecessor and remains perfectly suited to off-road use.
- The Cayenne, Cayenne S, and Cayenne Turbo models feature all-new turbocharged direct injection engines mated to a permanent all-wheel drive system and a new eight-speed Tiptronic S gearbox
- A 3-litre turbo V6 engine with 340 horsepower allows the Cayenne to reach 100 km/h in just 6.2 seconds
- With the optional Sport Chrono Package, this comes down to a mere 5.9 seconds
- A 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 engine with 440 horsepower brings the Cayenne S to 100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds
- With the optional Sport Chrono Package, this comes down to a mere 4.9 seconds
- A 550 horsepower 4-litre twin-turbo V8 propels the Cayenne Turbo to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds; with the Sport Chrono Package the sprint time is just 3.9 seconds
The new Cayenne offers the innovative Porsche Surface Coated Brake (PSCB). This world first is available as an option for all Cayenne models and consists of a cast-iron disc with a tungsten-carbide coating. This finish increases the friction values and wear but also reduces brake dust.
The new Cayenne Turbo is the first SUV to have an adaptive roof spoiler as a component of its active aerodynamics. Depending on the position, this optimizes efficiency, increases downforce on the rear axle and, in the airbrake position, shortens the braking distance from higher speeds. At full braking from 250 km/h, the SUV comes to a stop up to two metres earlier as a result.
The new 2019 Cayenne will be available in Canada late summer with pricing starting from $75,500, Cayenne S from $92,600 and Cayenne Turbo from $139,700.
Sport Turismo expands the Panamera model line
Based on the successful Panamera sports sedan, the new Sport Turismo version once again makes a statement in the premium segment with its unmistakable design. At the same time, with up to 680 hp, the Sport Turismo is more versatile than any other model in its class. With a large tailgate, low loading edge, increased luggage compartment volume and a 4+1 seating concept, the new derivative offers the perfect combination of everyday usability and maximum flexibility.
From a technological and design perspective, the Sport Turismo uses all the innovations introduced with the brand new Panamera model line launched just last year. These include the digital Porsche Advanced Cockpit, pioneering assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control with Traffic Jam Assist, chassis systems such as rear axle steering, the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC Sport) electronic roll stabilization system and powerful powertrains. All versions feature Porsche Traction Management (PTM) – an active all-wheel drive system with electronically controlled multi-plate clutch – as standard. In addition, adaptive air suspension with three-chamber technology is also standard on all Sport Turismo models.
The first units will begin arriving in Canada in the spring with pricing starting at $109,700.
