POLL: 'MONEY' ECLIPSES 'CHILDREN' AS NUMBER ONE CONCERN OF DIVORCING
CANADIANS
TORONTO, Aug. 31 /CNW/ - Divorcechoices.com, Canada's leading on-line source for strategies and support to effectively divorce while avoiding the formal court process, today announced the results of an online poll that asked 'What aspect of the divorce process is most important to you?' The Divorcechoices.com poll revealed that out of the 2100 Canadians polled, 94% (2035) cited 'money' as the factor most important to them in the divorce process. Rounding out the poll at a surprisingly low 3% (69) was 'children,' followed by 'emotional' at 1.3% (27) and legal concerns at 1.2% (26)
"Our poll underscores the importance of creating and following a financial plan while negotiating a divorce," says Jackie Ramler, Financial specialist for the Ontario Association of Family Mediation and Collaborative Practice Simcoe. "Some couples will suffer and stay together because they can't afford a divorce, others will be financially ruined because of a divorce … "both can get a divorce and stay financially afloat." Jackie has just published a book (The Joy of an Ex!) that walks couples through the often painful, but potentially liberating process that divorce can bring.
