Politik Announces Substance - The Future Rewritten. Featuring Robert Herjavec, Naomi Klein and Blake Irving
VANCOUVER, April 22, 2015 /CNW/ - Politik (www.politik.io), the technology media company behind Interzone (www.interzone.io), has announced a two-day invitation only event in Los Angeles called Substance (www.substance.la). Substance will be held at the W Hollywood on October 15 and 16, 2015 and will explore the relationship between people, technologyand the reinvention of capitalism.
The inaugural version of Substance will challenge George Orwell's notion that "no advance in wealth, no softening in manners, no reform or revolution has ever brought human equality a millimeter nearer." Speakers include: Robert Herjavec, CEO of Herjavec Group and Star of ABC's "Shark Tank"; Naomi Klein, Author of "No Logo & The Shock Doctrine"; Blake Irving, CEO of GoDaddy; Robin Chase, CEO of BuzzCar; Anthony Bay, CEO of Rdio; and Padmasree Warrior, CTSO of Cisco.
"Any time you change the technology of money, it changes the behavior of people," commented Robert Brennan Hart, Founder and CEO of Politik and Substance Chair. "We are in the early stages of a new economic system that fundamentally thrives on the sharing and open distribution of physical, intellectual and artistic resources. The proliferation of closed and privately held intellectual property no longer provides the greatest value to any conceivable group of stakeholders. Political and economic power is rapidly shifting from century old centralized entities to more agile, adaptable and distributed socioeconomic frameworks. The old guard is not going to go down without a fight, of course, and the outcome on the battlefield will very likely determine whether or not the human race survives the next century; certainly at a spiritual level."
Avasant (www.avasant.com), a leading global management consulting firm headquartered in Los Angeles, is Substance's first major event partner and collaborator. They will be hosting a discussion about the changed rules of survival in the Digital Age and how institutional advantages of incumbency from a generation no longer apply to those who are redefining our economy and our society.
"We believe that the Digital Age is much more than the development of new technologies or the application of these technologies for corporate profits," said Kevin Parikh, CEO and Senior Partner of Avasant. "Technology innovations can remove the barriers of cost, access and exclusion that have prevented the vast majority of people from full and equal participation in our economy and societies. We have a once-in a generation opportunity to redefine our societies to ones where growth is finally reconciled with equality, and a free market is once again a fairmarket. We are glad to partner with Politik, an organization that understands that the Digital Age can lead to a new human renaissance, and is not afraid to drive the tough conversations that challenge the status quo."
