Back-to-back Canada Day celebrations and performances await you and your family!
OTTAWA, May 30, 2018 /CNW/ - Today, the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage, revealed details about the Canada Day festivities that will take place at the three official sites in Canada's Capital Region: Parliament Hill, Major's Hill Park and the Canadian Museum of History.
Canadians of all ages can take part in a wide range of activities that celebrate our diverse cultures and communities, while highlighting the important contributions of Indigenous Peoples and the inspiring women who helped make Canada the country it is today. We will also take this opportunity to acknowledge the outstanding achievements of our Olympic and Paralympic athletes at the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Games.
Canada Day on Parliament Hill
Parliament Hill will be bursting with fun-filled activities and live musical performances by well-known and emerging artists from across Canada. Canada's Capital Region is definitely the place to be during this year's celebration.
Morning Program on the East Lawn (from 8 a.m.)
Canadians and visitors from around the world are invited to make their way to the Canada Day festivities early for a great morning lineup of activities.
- 8 a.m.: Algonquin blessing of the grounds and water
- 9 a.m.: Special artistic performances at the Centennial Flame
- 9:30 a.m.: A participatory musical experience led by Samajam
- 10 a.m.: A Carillon concert at the Peace Tower
- 10:30 a.m.: A participatory musical experience led by Samajam
Noon Show (from noon)
Hosted by Lisa Charleyboy and Marième, the Canada Day Noon Show will include remarks from dignitaries, a flypast by the Canadian Forces Snowbirds and unique performances by Canadian artists:

The Noon Show will be broadcast live on multiple CBC and Radio-Canada platforms. The broadcast will also be streamed live on Facebook (Capital Experience).
At 5:30 p.m., there will be an aerial show by the Canadian Forces Snowbirds.
Evening Show (from 7 p.m.)
The Canada Day Evening Show will feature the following artists:

Also joining the celebrations are winter Olympic athletes Mikaël Kingsbury and Kim Boutin, and Paralympic athletes Brian McKeever and Mollie Jepsen.
The evening will end with a dazzling 15-minute President's Choice pyro-musical show at 10 p.m.
There will be a 60-minute national broadcast of the evening show on multiple CBC and Radio-Canada platforms. The broadcast will also be streamed on Facebook (Capital Experience).
Major's Hill Park
On June 30, visitors can enjoy activities for the whole family, including unique circus performances, games and a community culinary experience. Groove to the beats of musical talent from Ottawa: Elijah Woods X Jamie Fine; MEGAPHONO Showcase featuring LeFLOFRANCO, SeiiizMikk and Jah'kota; and in the evening, Andréanne A. Malette and River Town Saints.
On July 1, the same exciting experience awaits people of all ages, with performances by a diverse lineup of artists including Charlotte Cardin, the Noubi Trio, The Beaches, Logan Staats, Jacobus and La Bronze.
Canadian Museum of History
On July 1, people can head to the Canadian Museum of History and enjoy free family-friendly programming, including many participatory activities. The Museum is also the best place to watch the pyro-musical show as it lights up the night sky in Ottawa–Gatineau.
Canada Day celebrations in Canada's Capital Region are made possible thanks to official sponsors President's Choice, Manulife and Tim Hortons, as well as the valuable support of more than 500 dedicated volunteers.
Across the country
Canadians can also take part in the numerous Canada Day celebrations taking place across the country. These festivities will give all Canadians the opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments, history and role in the world. An interactive map will also help people identify activities happening in their region on July 1.

Canada Day festivities on Parliament Hill on July 1 will run from 8 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and will feature ceremonial events, performances, activities and more. The focus for this year's Canada Day celebrations is on advancing reconciliation, celebrating Canada's diversity and inclusion, and honouring Canadian women whose work has paved the way toward achieving gender equality.
Festivities will take place in Major's Hill Park on June 30 and July 1. They will feature a variety of activities for people of all ages and an exciting showcase of Canadian talent on the Tim Hortons stage.
Family-friendly programming and activities will be offered at the Canadian Museum of History on July 1.
At 10 p.m. on July 1, the President's Choice 15-minute pyro-musical show will light up the night sky over Ottawa–Gatineau.
