The NCAFC also plans to promote and market Safe-T-element to its membership throughout the state of North Carolina and will recommend the product to affiliates and peer associations at the regional and national level.

NCAFC President, Chief Frank Burns said, "Cooking fires are one of the major contributors to fire loss in North Carolina. The NCAFC believes that this innovative cooking technology will help to reduce these types of fires in the State of North Carolina. That is why we are endorsing this innovative product as a preventative solution to help us protect the constituents we proudly serve."

Statistics published by the Office of the State Fire Marshall indicate that of the 9,462 reported structure fires in North Carolina last year, cooking fires were one of the leading causes in residential homes. Fire prevention through enforcement, education and engineering solutions are a key focus of the NCAFC. North Carolina is one of the most progressive states in the union when it comes to fire safety and prevention initiatives. The State of North Carolina has also included Safe-T-element as part of its Low Income Housing Tax Credit program.

Major installations are now under way at the University of North Carolina and North Carolina State University after successful pilot programs, Bill Stevenson, North Carolina State University Fire Marshal said, "It is a very unique device...not only is it really safe but it saves energy which translates into saving money. It's one of the best things I have seen in a long time."
