VANCOUVER, June 6, 2013 /CNW/ - Skills/Compétences Canada, a not-for-profit organization that actively promotes careers in skilled trades and technologies, kicked off its first day of the 19th Annual 2013 Skills Canada National Competition today in Vancouver. This is the third time the Competition has been held in the province of British Columbia.
The Skills Canada National Competition is an annual event that brings over 500 students from across the country to compete for the top spot in over 40 skilled trade competitions ranging from carpentry and mobile robotics to welding, aircraft maintenance and graphic design. The event also attracts school groups and young career-seekers who can take part in interactive Try-a-Trade® and Technology activities, as well as employers and recruiters, industry experts, labour groups, training institutes and government partners.
The 2013 Skills Canada National Competition is being presented by CAPP, the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers, and UA, the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry.
