CALGARY, Oct. 2 /CNW/ - The Canadian Paralympic Committee, Bentall LP, and North Hill Centre are participating in a "Hands Up Canada" campaign that brings together shopping centres, communities, and schools to raise funds and support Canada's Paralympic winter athletes.
Earle Connor is a two-time Paralympic athlete who won gold in the 100-metre sprint at the Sydney 2000 games and Beijing 2008 games. Mr. Connor will be at the centre from noon to 3 pm to sign autographs and raise awareness for Paralympic athletes.
North Hill Centre is pleased to support Canada's Paralympic winter athletes with a "Team Up" event where customers can compete for medals in a Wii Fit competition and meet Calgary's elite athletes from the Calgary Flames, Stampeders, Hitmen, Roughnecks and SAIT Trojans. All will be on hand throughout the mall and there will be lots of autograph opportunities. JT Hay, John Helton former Stampeders Hall of Famers, and Calgary Flame alumni Perry Berezan are just a few of the athletes who will be lending their support.
The Wii Fitness slalom or ski jumping competition will give customers the opportunity to take on a Paralympic or local athlete for an opportunity to win a 10k gold, silver, or bronze medal. Customers are also invited to enter to win 4 tickets to Calgary's Grey Cup, 4 tickets to the Calgary Flames versus Detroit Redwings game, or a Family Wii Fitness Package donated by HMV.
The Team Up event for "Hands Up Canada" at North Hill Centre is very pleased to support our Paralympic winter athletes and we would invite you to join us at North Hill Centre located at 1632 - 14th Avenue NW Saturday, October 3rd from 10 am to 5 pm.
