TORONTO, June 12, 2013 /CNW/ - On Saturday, June 15th, 2013, Cinespace Film Studios will be hosting at its historic Kleinburg Studios a 50-year anniversary celebration and reunion for the first colour TV series ever produced in Canada, "The Forest Rangers".
Original cast members, including Gordon Pinsent, crew and fans from over 12 countries will be converging at Cinespace Kleinburg Studios to celebrate and remember one of the most successful TV series in Canadian history, which ran from 1963-1966 and achieved foreign sales in over 60 countries at the time. The show was actually produced on-site in Kleinburg, Ontario, in and around the studio facility originally built by the CBC but now operated by Cinespace.
Cinespace Film Studios, celebrating its 25th year in 2013, is North America's largest owner and operator of film and television production space. Having hosted numerous domestic television projects over its history, including "Road to Avonlea", "Life With Derek", "Flashpoint" and "Murdoch Mysteries", Cinespace was eager to sponsor this event for The Forest Rangers.
"This series, like the many others we were privileged to host inside our studio facilities, helped to build Canada's domestic television industry. The producers, the cast and the crew deserve our thanks and our recognition, so we are honoured to host this event and celebrate this iconic show together, in the beautifully green and lush Kleinburg forest, where it all began", remarked Steve Mirkopoulos, President and CEO of Cinespace Film Studios. Also at the event will be representatives of the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, paying tribute to the conservation and sustainability themes of the show, and with proceeds from the day's fundraising initiatives to support TRCA programs.
