AURORA, ON, May 2, 2017 /CNW/ - Permobil, a world leader in high-end and complex rehab solutions, and SoftWheel, creators of the most energy-efficient and shock-absorbing in-wheel suspension system in the world, today announce a new strategic partnership. Permobil has the exclusive distribution rights in Canada for SoftWheel's innovative in-wheel shock absorption system for manual wheelchairs.
"This partnership supports our dedication to improving the lives of our clients by providing them with the highest quality rehab products on the market," states Allan Boyd, General Manager of Permobil Canada. "Permobil is thrilled to partner with SoftWheel to make their product available to Canadian manual wheelchair users."
Thousands of people with disabilities in Canada use manual wheelchairs every day. SoftWheel by Permobil can help provide a smoother ride and minimize the pain and fatigue they experience with daily wheelchair use. It will also open up more paths to them, and revolutionize the way people use their wheelchairs.
"SoftWheel empowers wheelchair users to navigate painlessly down stairs, off curbs and on almost any terrain," adds Allan Boyd.
What attracted Permobil to SoftWheel's unique offering is that the suspension system is built into the wheel itself allowing the shock absorbers to switch between providing rigidity and cushioning. This selective suspension means that as long as the technology is not needed, it works as a regular wheel. The stylish design features three shock-absorbing struts around a central hub.
"We set out to give wheelchair users a more comfortable and accessible ride, and we ended up reinventing the wheel," explains SoftWheel CEO, Daniel Barel. "SoftWheel can really change a wheelchair user's life."
Demonstrations of SoftWheel by Permobil will take place at the People in Motion show in Toronto on May 26-27, 2017. You have to see this product in action to believe it: https://youtu.be/-kBZ7jlcZm0
