SANTA CLARA, Calif., June 26, 2018 /CNW/ -- Based on its recent analysis of the North American perinatal information systems market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes PeriGen with the 2018 North America New Product Innovation Award for PeriWatch® Vigilance™, its new obstetrical early-warning system. This artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled system is designed to help curb preventable mortality and morbidity in child birth by providing best-in-class real-time and trending analysis of the fetal heart rate, vital signs and labor progress. It is a stand-alone platform and does not require replacement of a health system's current fetal monitoring system. Multiple peer-reviewed studies indicate that more than 50% of bad outcomes in childbirth are preventable. The vast majority of them are associated with delayed recognition and response to clear warning signs. This has led to the creation of checklists designed to draw clinical attention to worsening conditions, but these checklists add significant documentation burden, and good compliance is difficult in clinical settings. PeriWatch Vigilance automates the real-time identification of patients with these warning signs, providing clinicians with standardized analysis and timely notification of troubling trends so that they can follow protocols in a more consistent and timely way. Critical data elements and trends in fetal heart rate abnormalities, maternal vital signs and labor progress are shown in a single, time-aligned view spanning several hours.
