Leader in building science adopts a new brand image,
inaugurates a new head office and
expands its testing laboratory
VARENNES, QC, Oct. 29, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Patenaude Trempe Van Dalen and Air-Ins, Eastern Canada's largest group of professionals in laboratory and on-site testing, quality control and technical know-how dedicated exclusively to the building-science field, will now be known as C.L.E.B. (Conseil et laboratoire en enveloppe du bâtiment, or building envelope consulting and laboratory). This new brand image marks the strategic repositioning of two sister companies – Patenaude Trempe Van Dalen (PTVD) and Air-Ins – to create a new group synergy. And to mark the occasion, C.L.E.B. is officially inaugurating today its new head office in Varennes and the expansion of its testing laboratory, an investment of more than $3 million.
"For more than 30 years, Air‐Ins and PTVD have grown individually while providing complementary services in their field of application," says C.L.E.B. President Mario Gonçalves. "Rooted in the values instilled by their respective founders, these two companies have grown to maturity and are recognized as North American leaders in their field. The expertise of our staff and our laboratory facilities, among the biggest in Canada, enable us to provide one-stop service for major projects across Eastern Canada and the Northeastern United States. Creating C.L.E.B. shows our desire to emphasize the synergy that has always existed between our two companies with the aim of serving our clients better."
The head office, which has grown to more than 41,000 square feet from 23,000, was designed by the Éric Labbé architecture firm. The new brand image was developed by the Minimal Médias team.
One-stop service in building science
C.L.E.B. brings together construction professionals offering a wide array of services in the building science field. The group provides specialized laboratory and on-site testing, quality control and technical consulting as well as forensic investigation services and litigation support. The services provided are aimed primarily at reducing errors associated with poor-quality or inadequate design, production or execution in key critical elements affecting building envelopes (exterior walls, windows and curtain walls, cladding, roofing, etc.). Its laboratory is accredited by the major recognized organizations in Canada and the United States and serves the industry to meet needs for certifying various building envelope systems and components. When part of a project design team, its approach emphasizes quality in both building envelope design and construction. Its actions are based on performance goals and on basic building science principles.
In the last three decades, the C.L.E.B. group has taken part in many high-level projects, particularly in Montréal, Québec City and Ottawa, but also elsewhere in Canada, the United States and abroad. Local projects include the Deloitte Tower (Montréal), the head offices of Export Development Canada (Ottawa) and La Capitale MFQ (Québec City), the Longueuil campus of Université de Sherbrooke (Longueuil), the McGill University Health Centre (Montréal), the Centre CDP Capital (Montréal) and several condominium towers around the Bell Centre (Icône, Rocabella, Avenue des Canadiens). Projects outside Canada include the World Trade Center and Prudential Tower in New York, Logan International Airport in Boston and the Lotte World Tower in Seoul, South Korea.
With its testing laboratory and building envelope expertise, C.L.E.B.'s services are chosen by various players in the construction field, including manufacturers of building envelope systems and components, architects and other construction professionals, building managers, construction contractors, and more. In addition, the company is often sought for the drafting of standards, the development of training courses and research projects, and the publication and presentation of technical articles at various seminars in Canada, the United States and abroad.
"Our company has seen substantial growth in business over the last few years – up 500% from 10 years ago and up 150% in the last five years," Mr. Gonçalves says.
"In the next five years, we expect to reach the 100-employee mark, with the possibility of opening an office in Atlantic Canada and another in the Northeastern United States, two key markets for ensuring our growth."
