OPSEU joins protest against community school closures

TORONTO, April 26, 2017 /CNW/ - Warren (Smokey) Thomas, President of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU), will be speaking at a protest against community school closures at Queen's Park today. The protest is being organized by the Ontario Alliance Against School Closures.

Wednesday, April 26

12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Queen's Park, south lawn, Toronto

"Closing rural community schools is robbing kids and their communities of so much," said President Thomas. "It means putting kids on hours-long bus rides every day, denying them opportunities to join extra-curricular activities or gain after-school employment. This government cannot get away with pinching pennies on the backs of kids. They must stop the closures now."
