New Independent Report by Davidson Consulting Names Open Text as the Market Leader in Enterprise Fax Server Shipments in 2009
WATERLOO, ON, July 14 /CNW/ - With significant investments in product development and customer support, Open Text Corporation (NASDAQ: OTEX, TSX: OTC), the preeminent provider of enterprise content management (ECM) software, is further extending its lead in enterprise fax server software and achieving rapid growth in fax over IP (FoIP) solutions, according to a just-published report from Davidson Consulting, a fax industry analyst firm.
Over the past year, Open Text saw gains across the board in areas most critical to enterprise fax customers including fax server, production fax, multifunction peripherals (MFP) integration and FoIP. Despite challenging economic conditions, the overall fax server market experienced year-over-year growth, with Open Text further solidifying its market leadership.
As detailed in the 77-page "Computer-Based Fax Markets, 2009-2014" report (available at www.davidsonconsulting.biz), enterprise fax software has a bright outlook for the foreseeable future as companies centralize fax operations to save costs. Fax retains a strong foothold in the enterprise for mission-critical transactions that require delivery confirmation and signatures as a way to meet compliance and security requirements. Such transactions are particularly common in the mortgage industry, insurance, healthcare and many other vertical markets.
At the core of Open Text's success in this growing segment is Open Text Fax Server, RightFax Edition that according to Davidson's report is "the leading fax server software brand." The report goes on to say that the "Open Text Fax and Document Division has a whole new attitude in 2010" based on renewed investments in engineering, customer support and sales. The report also highlights a number of enhancements and new offerings that position Open Text for success in the coming year, including:
- Enhanced integration and data connectors for ECM software, including
the Open Text ECM Suite, and rich MFP device integration to cover
nearly 90 percent of MFP devices sold.
- Full integration with Microsoft Exchange Server 2010, Microsoft
Windows 7 and Microsoft SharePoint. Open Text is the only Microsoft
Global Gold ISV partner for fax integration with Microsoft Exchange
2010 Unified Messaging.
- The introduction of a complete range of Fax Gateways for FoIP
simplify implementations and provide cost-effective alternatives to
traditional fax boards and remote fax servers. According to the
report: "Deploying an Open Text Fax Gateway together with Open Text
Fax Server represents a complete FoIP solution which maximizes IP
infrastructure, facilitates network consolidation, and simplifies
branch office fax management."
At Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, a full-service 221-bed hospital in central Illinois, Microsoft integration in particular has proven to be invaluable. "Open Text Fax Server integrated with Microsoft SharePoint is one of the best ways to manage orders electronically," said Adam Young, Field Project Lead at BroMenn. "We're now able to provide the services patients need in a more efficient."
According to Lubor Ptacek, Vice President of Product Marketing at Open Text, "Faxing remains an integral component in enabling mission critical business processes for many industries and enterprises. Open Text Fax Server provides the best option in the industry to securely send, receive and store confidential business information while eliminating the need for standalone fax machines and paper-driven processes.
