Only Canadian Surgeon Presents at International Conference

TORONTO, July 3, 2014 /CNW/ - Dr. Frank Lista, internationally renowned Plastic Surgeon and founder of The Plastic Surgery Clinic in Toronto and Mississauga, was the only Canadian surgeon invited to present at the CATBBAS II: Controversies, Art and Technology in Breast & Body Contour Aesthetic Surgery Conference in Brussels, Belgium recently.  This is one of the largest scientific conferences in Europe presenting insights into surgical techniques using the latest technology for breast and body contouring in aesthetic surgery.

Amongst the many plastic surgeons in attendance worldwide, Dr. Lista was invited to present and share his expertise and technological advances and trends on tummy tucks and breast reduction.  Following the numerous journal publications authored by Dr. Lista and Dr. Jamil Ahmad, Director of Research and Education at The Plastic Surgery Clinic,  Dr. Lista presented "Out patient abdominoplasty: Faster, Safer and Drain Free" and "Vertical Scar Breast Reduction: The 10 Steps to Success".

With the lecture on "Out patient abdominoplasty: Faster, Safer and Drain Free", Dr. Lista shared his innovative technique for tummy tuck surgery with no drain.  In previous, traditional methods of tummy tuck procedures, a space was left open and unattached between the skin and the muscle where fluid could collect and hinder the healing process.  Surgeons would prevent this by inserting small tubes or drains into the area to remove excess fluid and help to reduce swelling.  Understanding that living with these drains several days post-operation is inconvenient and uncomfortable, Dr. Lista and his team at The Plastic Surgery Clinic developed a new technique called "Progressive Tension Abdominoplasty" resulting in patients having a higher degree of comfort after surgery with faster healing results.  As an expert in this procedure, Dr. Lista is frequently invited to share his expertise on this procedure around the world.

The second lecture presented was "Vertical Scar Breast Reduction: The 10 Steps to Success".  Dr. Lista and Dr. Ahmad have pioneered a technique know as vertical scar breast reduction that leaves the patient with less scarring while consistently producing good breast shape with an operation that is shorter to perform.
