The Blue Sky Award honors Canadian developers who combine insight with passion to create new innovative solutions to address global challenges. Omnivex Moxie was developed to manage enterprise-level digital signage networks and represents a radical departure in the way digital communications are approached.

The Blue Sky Award rewards companies who break away from conventional processes or go beyond marginal improvements in existing products. The best of these innovations will prove massively disruptive and enjoy infinite potential in the marketplace. Entrants were asked to present their innovative product, along with the market potential and business plan, to a panel of Microsoft and industry experts for judging. "With this award, our objective is to encourage Canadian technology innovation," says Gladstone Grant, Vice President of the Developer & Platform Evangelism, Microsoft Canada.

Moxie was released to market in March of 2009 and has since been deployed by many customers in different vertical markets. It represents a new development effort from the ground up, yet it carried forward many features and capabilities of the company's earlier products and utilized their vast industry experience. "We have been developing Moxie for many years with a team of dedicated software developers," said Doug Bannister, Omnivex CEO and director of software development, following the awards ceremony. "We wanted to create the best digital signage software platform available on the market and were not afraid to take risks to revolutionize the digital signage industry," continued Bannister. "This award represents confirmation that we have created a truly unique and valuable product," he said.

Moxie software is a robust system, with advanced graphical capabilities, sophisticated data management and a well designed user interface. The result is that customers are able to move audiences towards a desired outcome quickly and easily to derive better value from their digital signage system. "Canadian ISVs are constantly creating fresh and innovative technologies to market and Omnivex was recognized because of their commitment to raising the bar," says Grant. Moxie is a multi-user, fully automated, 3D vector graphics capable system running on a full database, with everything updating in real time. The ability to use data to drive content gives Moxie several advantages over competing products, but most importantly, it makes content contextual, providing viewers with relevant information when and where it is needed. Moxie is the first true, enterprise-class visual communications software on the market.

This is the fourth major award Moxie has been recognized with since its release just over one year ago.
