Olymel plant at Vallée-Jonction: Information on the status of negotiations for the renewal of employee's collective agreement Français
VALLÉE-JONCTION, QC, April 1, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - In the matter of the negotiations concerning the renewal of the collective agreement for employees of the Vallée-Jonction hog slaughterhouse and butchering plant, today the two parties received the report by the conciliator from the Ministère du Travail, Emploi et Solidarité sociale. The union executive will submit this report to the members of the Union of Vallée-Jonction employees (CSN) at an assembly that will take place on Friday, April 3. Until that time, Olymel management will have no further comment on the matter.
The Olymel hog slaughterhouse, butchering and boning facility at Vallée-Jonction in the Beauce has more than 1,000 employees working on two shifts. Its operations generate major spin-offs for the region's economy and benefit a large number of producers and other suppliers. Centrally located in a pig production zone, it has a weekly slaughtering capacity of 35,000 hogs and fabricates boned products, various cuts of pork and chilled fresh pork. Much of its production volume is exported to foreign markets.
