OIPMAC gives gift of $60,000 to support supply chain management MBA students
at Ryerson University

TORONTO, June 2 /CNW/ - The Ontario Institute of the Purchasing Management Association of Canada (PMAC) has bestowed $60,000 to the Ted Rogers School of Management at Ryerson University in support of graduate-level students studying supply chain management. This generous gift will be used to create awards for full-time students enrolled in the MBA in the Management of Technology and Innovation, Supply Chain Management specialization stream.

The Ontario Institute of PMAC and its members across the province are honoured to provide these endowed scholarships to the Ted Rogers School of Management at Ryerson University in support of its outstanding supply chain management MBA program. It is a true testament to the value of the education Ryerson provides as well as continues to grow the importance of the supply chain management field.

Annually, up to two full-time qualified students will each receive an Ontario Institute of PMAC Graduate Award. The first award will be granted in the amount of $2,500 during the 2010/11 academic year. To qualify for an Ontario Institute of PMAC award, Ryerson MBA supply chain management students must demonstrate overall academic excellence, financial need and write an essay outlining their interest or activities in the area of supply chain management.

"We are enormously appreciative of the Ontario Institute of PMAC's continued support of our MBA program and our students," said Wendy Cukier, Associate Dean, Ted Rogers School of Management at Ryerson University. "Thanks in part to our partnership with the Ontario Institute of PMAC, the interest by prospective MBA students in our supply chain management stream is soaring along with the demand from industry for our graduates."

This gift further enhances an established relationship between Ryerson University and the Ontario Institute of PMAC. In 2009, an agreement was set forth to allow students who successfully completed the MBA program with a specialization in supply chain management to receive advanced standing towards PMAC's supply chain management professional designation.

"The awards we are sponsoring at Ryerson through the endowment will recognize the excellent performance of students in their supply chain management studies and support them in their pursuit of successful careers in the SCM field," said R. David Fletcher, President & CEO, Ontario Institute of PMAC. "We feel that our awards will do much to enhance recognition of Ryerson and the Ontario Institute of PMAC, as well as increase marketplace awareness of the growing value of supply chain management professionals in the success of organizations around the world."
