OECTA applauds Early Childhood Educators and Child Care Workers

TORONTO, Oct. 21 /CNW/ - Today, on Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day, the 43,000 members of the Ontario English Catholic Teachers' Association (OECTA) applaud the skills and dedication of the people who care for the youngest members of our society.

OECTA is a founding member of the Ontario Coalition of Better Child Care (OCBCC) that launched this day of recognition nine years ago, to raise the profile of the important role played by Early Childhood Educators and Child Care Workers.

It is also an opportunity to continue raising awareness about the valuable contribution they make to Ontario's families and communities.

OECTA's president James Ryan says that the Association is working with its partners to encourage all levels of government to expand public, not-for-profit child care services and recognize these trained and qualified workers as professionals.

OECTA represents 43,000 elementary, secondary and occasional teachers who work in Ontario's Catholic schools.
