SAN FRANCISCO and HONG KONG, Feb. 17, 2015 /CNW/ -- Notey is a platform that helps you find and discover the best blogs on over 500,000 topics.
Today, Notey announces closing a US$1.6mm seed round of funding with global investors including Steve Kirsch (Founder of Infoseek, OneID and CoinTrust), Hugo Barra (VP International, Xiaomi) and Ryan Holmes (CEO and Founder of Hootsuite).
"With over 500,000 topics and over 3 million stories, we're the most powerful blog search engine and reader and today, we're excited to share all the best stories in the blogosphere with you. It's a completely new experience," says Co-Founder, Catherine Tan.
Tan, along with husband and Co-Founder, Kevin Lepsoe, were searching for blogs to determine their next travel destination when they came across the problem of not being able to find high-quality blogs in an easy and seamless manner. They realized there were also millions of others with the same problem: how do you search for content on first-hand experiences and opinions, outside of mainstream media? That's how Notey was born.
Since early 2014, Notey has combed through millions of blogs curating only the best. Today, Notey features the best blogs from broad topics like Travel, to specific topics like Calligraphy - and everything in between. Every topic page is aesthetically rich and pleasing, resembling a beautiful magazine, filled with thousands of blog posts from only the best bloggers.
Tan continues, "What differentiates us from RSS readers and blog directories is that we're focused on the content. We've structured the site based on topics, rather than creating a list of bloggers. On top of that, we also curate! A friend described Notey as '80% tech; 20% Vogue' and we entirely agree. We think having that human touch makes all the difference."
