David Miller, counsel at Aird & Berlis LLP, is nominated for election to the board of directors of Northern Iron Corp. at the Annual General Meeting scheduled for May 29th, 2012.
VANCOUVER, May 2, 2012 /CNW/ - Northern Iron Corp. ("Northern" or the "Company") (TSXV: NFE) (OTCQX: NHRIF) (FRANKFURT: N8I) announces the nomination of David Miller, the former Mayor of Toronto, currently serving as a legal counsel with the Toronto law firm Aird & Berlis LLP, to stand for election to Northern's board of directors (the "Board") at the Annual General Meeting to be held on May 29th, 2012.
Mr. Basil Botha, President and CEO of the Company stated, "Northern is delighted to announce the nomination for election of David Miller to the Company's Board. David's appointment will continue our commitment to strengthen Northern's Board with experienced directors who can help us achieve our strategic goals more rapidly. David's political and legal experience, along with his interest and exemplary track record in environmental and green initiatives will be invaluable as we fast track Northern to production. David also brings extensive expertise and experience in working with First Nations, which Northern takes very seriously."
In agreeing to be added to the Northern Board of Directors, David stated, "Northern's project is the type of development I like to support. Not only will it bring badly needed jobs to Northern Ontario, it also respects environmental principles by using the existing infrastructure, abandoned by the previous owners. Northern's plan to produce a value added metallic product, rather than just iron ore pellets, means more jobs will be created right here in Ontario, rather than shipping them offshore. I am very impressed with management's commitment to respecting and working with the First Nations in the Ear Falls area. Not only is the Company listening to any concerns but is also committed to employment opportunities wherever possible." David concluded by saying, "I very much look forward to using my experience and expertise in helping advance this project to production."
