Norsat Introduces New High Performance LNBs at Industry Leading Price Point
Norsat will be showcasing the new 5000 Series PLL LNBs at NAB 2015 in Las Vegas, April 13 – 16
VANCOUVER, April 13, 2015 /CNW/ - Norsat International Inc. ("Norsat") (TSX: NII and NYSE MKT: NSAT), a leading provider of innovative communication solutions that enable the transmission of data, audio and video for remote and challenging applications, today announced the launch of the 5000 Series PLL (Phase-locked loop) LNBs (Low Noise Block Downconverter), a new product family that delivers high performance and reliability at an industry leading price point.
The new 5000 Series PLL LNBs leverages Norsat's unique and innovative product design and manufacturing capabilities that allow for high performance products to be produced at costs consistent with lower end mass production. The new 5000 series PLL LNBs are ideally suited for high-end broadcast applications including DBV (digital broadcast video), VSAT broadband, military satcom, point-of-sale, and oil and gas. Available in standard and extended frequencies, the 5000 Series has LO (Local Oscillator) stabilities of +/- 50 kHz, +/-75 kHz, +/-100 kHz, and +/-250 kHz to meet our customers varying applications and environments.
The Norsat 5000 series PLL LNB's contain a crystal that resonates at a specific frequency and is much more stable than ceramic-based DROs. Historically this rock solid stability has come at a price premium, however, Norsat's new 5000 series provides the performance of a PLL at a price point usually reserved for DRO products.
The 5000 Series rounds out Norsat's comprehensive portfolio of C-Band LNBs which includes the 3000 PLL, the 3000 External Reference, and the 8000 Digital DRO. This full family of products allows Norsat to provide stabilities ranging from +/- 2 kHz through to +/-500 kHz, with the added capability of customizing frequencies for unique applications.
Dr. Amiee Chan, chief executive officer of Norsat, commented, "The launch of the 5000 Series is a testament to Norsat's continued commitment to deliver high performance products to meet the requirements of our customers and demand in the marketplace. This product line opens up a new market opportunity for us at the mid-performance level that can lead to incremental growth in the coming years. Broadening our product portfolio to offer new and innovative products, coupled with the leveraging of our design and manufacturing capabilities, is a key component of Norsat's long term growth strategy."
The 5000 Series is available now for order with first shipments scheduled for May 2015. Norsat will be launching and showcasing these products at the NAB 2015 show in Las Vegas this week. Visit us at booth #SU3306.
