Nine Ontario Schools to Compete in Toronto CFA Society's Inaugural Investment
Research Challenge

TORONTO, Nov. 10 /CNW/ - Toronto CFA Society launches its inaugural Investment Research Challenge this Fall as nine Ontario university teams compete to present a research report on the subject company, Glacier Media Inc. (Glacier).

CFO Orest Smysnuik said, "Glacier is thrilled to be chosen as the subject company for the inaugural Investment Research Challenge. We look forward to working with the many qualified participants on this exciting project."

The Challenge is an initiative that teaches students from top area business schools best practices in equity research. As part of the competition, Toronto CFA Society selects a public company to be the subject of the student research reports. The top four selected research report teams move on to give a presentation of this research to a panel of respected Toronto industry professionals.

"The most exciting part of the Investment Research Challenge is the way it allows seasoned industry professionals to connect with the next generation of financial analysts. There are numerous Toronto CFA Society volunteers acting as mentors to student teams, graders of the research reports and panel judges," said Peter S. Jarvis, CFA, Executive Director, Toronto CFA Society.

Sponsors of Toronto's Investment Research Challenge are CFA Institute, OMERS and Stalla by Becker Professional Education.

Competing this year will be nine student teams from the following universities across the province: Brock University, Lakehead University, Queen's School of Business, Schulich School of Business, Sprott School of Business, Telfer School of Management, Waterloo University, Wilfrid Laurier University and York University.

The winning team will be determined based upon the best combined score for the written report and presentation, qualifying for the CFA Institute Regional Investment Research Challenge in New York City to compete against teams from schools across the Americas in March 2010. Winning teams then proceed to the Global Finals to be held in Hong Kong in April 2010.
