Industry leader to focus on agency leasing in Suburban Maryland
WASHINGTON, DC, Sept. 11, 2014 /CNW/ - Keith Lipton, Avison Young Principal and Managing Director of the company's Washington, DC region, announced today that Niel Beggy has joined the firm in Suburban Maryland.
Effective immediately, Beggy becomes a Principal of Avison Young. Based in the company's Gaithersburg, MD office, Beggy will assist the firm in expanding its agency leasing services in the Montgomery and Prince George's Counties in Maryland.
Beggy brings 22 years of commercial real estate experience to Avison Young. Prior to joining the firm, he served as a Senior Director with Cushman & Wakefield in Suburban Maryland.

During his eight-year tenure at Cushman & Wakefield, Beggy was the firm's top-producing Maryland agent for four of those years. Previously, he spent six years with CB Richard Ellis following the 2003 merger with Insignia/ESG, where he began working in 2000 as Managing Director. Prior to moving to Insignia/ESG, Beggy served nearly seven years as a Vice-President for Transwestern-Carey Winston.
Beggy's current and past agency clients include: Meritage Properties, The Goldstar Group, CW Capital Asset Management, First Potomac Realty Trust, Chevy Chase Land Company and Mack-Cali Realty Corporation. His tenant roster includes: Federal Express, Verizon Communications, Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., Assurant Employee Benefits and Computer Sciences Corporation, to name a few.
In 2013, Beggy was named Maryland Broker of the Year by the Commercial Real Estate Brokerage Association of Greater Washington, DC. Further, he was nominated to the Greater Washington Commercial Association of Realtors' (GWCAR) Multi-Million Dollar Leasing Club from 1997 to 2013; nominated to GWCAR's Multi-Million Dollar Sales Club in 1998, 2002, 2003, 2007 and 2010; and has placed in GWCAR's Top 10 for leasing in Maryland in eight of the past 10 years. Beggy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in both economics and financial management from Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. He is a licensed real estate broker in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia, and holds the designation of Certified Property Manager (CPM) from the Institute of Real Estate Management.
