Mark Messier and Guy Carbonneau video series celebrates #HoistTheCup moments
TORONTO, April 4, 2016 /CNW/ - Starting today, PepsiCo Canada is providing hockey fans across the nation the unique opportunity to virtually "hoist" the Stanley Cup® exclusively with SUBWAY® Restaurants. The "Hoist the Cup™" promotion will also give three lucky fans an exclusive Stanley Cup® Final experience.
To celebrate the launch of Hoist the Cup™, NHL® alumni Mark Messier and Guy Carbonneau are featured in an online video series celebrating the unforgettable experience of hoisting the coveted Stanley Cup®. As past Stanley Cup® champions, both Messier and Carbonneau know first-hand the rush of pride that comes with hoisting the Cup above their heads – a feeling that, until now, was something only a select number of players have experienced.
"We are honoured to be able to work with the NHL® to provide fans the opportunity to virtually 'hoist' the Stanley Cup® at SUBWAY® Restaurants," said Nancy Rooney, Senior Director Foodservice – Marketing and Strategy at PepsiCo Canada. "We're exceptionally proud of our partnership with the NHL® and are excited to share these opportunities with SUBWAY® fans. We are committed to offering our fans exclusive experiences to celebrate our nation's love affair with hockey."
To take part in this unique opportunity, customers can purchase a limited edition 21 oz (620 mL) fountain drink at participating SUBWAY® sandwich shops across Canada. Using the free Blippar app, customers can scan (or "blipp") the cup, which will transform into an image of the Stanley Cup®. When the cup is activated, customers will be able to take a photo of themselves "hoisting" the Stanley Cup®. In addition to the app's innovative functionality, users can also enter for a chance to win* one of three sets of four tickets to the Stanley Cup® Final. Secondary prizing will also be awarded, including: tickets to regular season NHL® games in the 2016-2017 season with $1,000 cash and $25 SUBWAY® cards.
"We are thrilled that Pepsi® and the NHL® are rewarding fans from coast to coast with the chance to win a once in a lifetime hockey experience exclusively through SUBWAY® Restaurants," says Kathleen Bell, Director of National Marketing, SUBWAY® Restaurants Canada.
The Hoist the Cup™ promotion is supported by a national TV, radio and digital advertising campaign which will run from April 4 to May 22, 2016.
