TORONTO, June 28, 2016 /CNW/ - David Thomson has been named Managing Director of NFL Canada, the National Football League announced today.
Thomson will be responsible for the NFL's strategic vision and business operations in Canada including fan development and engagement, sponsorship, consumer products, licensing and marketing. He will be based in Toronto and report to Mark Waller, the league's Executive Vice President of International.
Thomson comes to the NFL after a 15-year career at Coca-Cola Canada where he most recently was Vice President of Strategic Marketing & Investments. In addition to developing and managing long-term strategies across the portfolio of brands at Coca-Cola, he has previously held a variety of senior marketing roles for Molson and Clorox in Canada.
"David brings extensive business experience to the NFL with a strong track record of success in the development of brands in Canada," said Waller. "Canada is a priority market for the NFL and David will enhance our ability to continue to grow internationally."

Born in Toronto, Thomson graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University in Ontario.
