Newmarket CPA receives Life Membership Award
Doug Brooks, FCPA, FCGA recognized for his outstanding professional and community contributions
TORONTO, Oct. 2, 2014 /CNW/ - The Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario is proud to announce that Newmarket resident Doug Brooks, FCPA, FCGA, has been named one of just three Life Membership Award recipients in 2014.
Life Members recipients are recognized for their extraordinary service to the accounting profession through activities at the provincial level. These accomplished chartered professional accountants are among today's leading accounting and finance professionals, proudly representing their profession and designation.
As President and CEO, Doug led CGA Ontario into the 21st Century, representing and advocating for his profession in this province and across the country. Whether speaking with students, business leaders or government stakeholders, he consistently made the case regarding the skills and knowledge that accountants bring to the marketplace.
Doug's notable efforts, leadership and achievements resulted in a positive shift in the landscape of the accounting profession that included interprovincial labour mobility and public accounting licensing reform. He was a key participant in unification of the accounting profession, committed to the principle that all members in the new organization would have equal opportunity and access to future career and professional development opportunities.
Recognized as a champion of change, Doug is respected by his peers, colleagues and staff. He achieved sustainable results transforming organizations by aligning people with strategy. Doug personifies the values he established for the organization that he has so ably led the past seven years, namely: do the right thing; communicate openly and respectfully; work together; find a better way; and deliver results.
