CALGARY, Oct. 17, 2017 /CNW/ - Today an emotionally charged tribute to Canada's sesquicentennial was released in the form of an EP album recorded with the voices of over 300 proudly Canadian amateur singers.
Canada 150 was the inspiration for [Canada] I Feel Home, an original song by Jamie Serafi and co-writer Richard Harrison. Serafi is a professional composer, arranger and musician who worked in the music industry in the U.K. for more than 20 years before moving to Canada in 2015. Harrison is an award-winning Calgary poet and a member of Cool Choir.
"The song was created in hopes that people feel a renewed sense of pride to live in a country whose diversity is at its heart," says Jamie Serafi, songwriter and Cool Choir Creative Director. "I Feel Home is a song inspired by my personal journey and the people who make Canada the greatest country in the world."
Marielena Nuñez from Venezuela is featured in the video and describes, "I get goosebumps and my eyes fill with tears each time I watch. I'm so happy to share my story and let the world know I'm proud to be Canadian."
Like so many, Serafi moved to Canada in search of new opportunity. Jamie brought with him an idea for starting a pop/rock choir for adults. His strong work ethic, musical talent and skill for connecting with people have taken his concept from idea to successful new business. Cool Choir has not only won the hearts of hundreds of members, but also earned numerous entrepreneurial awards.
Cool Choir has quickly grown to attract over 350 amateur singers who gather weekly to find their voice together in a choir that performs hits from rock and pop charts featuring artists such as Adele, Elton John, U2 and more. Cool Choir plans to expand nationally beginning with Edmonton in fall 2018.
"Cool Choir is a fully inclusive member-based group with no auditions. Everyone who enjoys singing is welcome and these are the actual voices heard on the Cool Choir EP," explains Serafi, "just regular folks from a variety of backgrounds who are proudly singing about this country's greatest strength, its diversity."
