New Study shows Canadian eBusiness Managers pushing beyond "Good Enough"

TORONTO, April 30, 2013 /CNW/ - A new study by ePath Consulting finds that Canadian eBusiness and eCommerce managers are facing significant challenges in their quest to be among the global leaders in eBusiness, but that there are specific opportunities that can help them move towards the front of the pack.

According to ePath's John Foreman, "Credible reports, from sources such as the Boston Consulting Group and the federal government, have identified that Canada is not a leader in online business.  Our study is the first to look specifically at the world of eBusiness and eCommerce managers in Canada and let them have their say.  The study reveals that eBusiness and eCommerce managers in Canada are in a fundamentally sound position, but that there are some specific strategies that would help them move beyond "good enough" and towards "eBusiness leadership".

ePath's Axel Kuhn adds, "What we found in the study was that while there are some structural barriers to online business in Canada, such as a lack of scale, there are also many opportunities to increase online business success.  For example, investments in analytics, innovation, and the development of high performance teams each offer great potential for Canadian eBusinesses.  Overall, the biggest challenge that eBusiness managers face is creating the right management conditions for online success."

ePath's Canadian eBusiness / eCommerce Management Study surveyed eBusiness managers in 69 companies, including some of Canada's leaders in online business.  The results of the study are being used to shape the certificate program in eBusiness / eCommerce Management offered by the University of Toronto's School of Continuing Studies.
