TORONTO, Dec. 18, 2012 /CNW/ - Bell Media announced today a new television special in celebration of the creation of Cirque du Soleil Media, its new joint venture with the Montreal entertainment company. The television special ETALK PRESENTS: CIRQUE DU SOLEIL: WORLDS AWAY premieres Friday, Dec. 21 at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT on CTV, the same day that Cirque du Soleil's big screen spectacle Worlds Away opens in theatres across North America. The 30-minute special, which delves into the spectacular film and celebrates one of Canada's world-renowned exports, features exclusive interviews with the film's visionaries, including executive producer James Cameron (Avatar) and Cirque du Soleil Founder Guy Laliberté. An encore of ETALK PRESENTS: CIRQUE DU SOLEIL: WORLDS AWAY airs Saturday, Dec. 22 at 5 p.m. ET/PT on CTV, and Thursday, Dec. 27 at 11:30 p.m. ET on E!.

Hosted by ETALK co-anchor Ben Mulroney, ETALK PRESENTS: CIRQUE DU SOLEIL: WORLDS AWAY provides viewers an exclusive behind-the-scenes look into the making of Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away, directed by Academy Award^®-nominee Andrew Adamson (The Chronicles of Narnia). Featuring never-before-seen footage, ETALK cameras were given access inside Cirque du Soleil's world famous headquarters to capture the magic behind the bona fide high-wire acts. From touring the costume and training departments, to hanging on a wire with select cast and crew, ETALK takes viewers on a journey to experience the astonishing and dreamlike worlds of Cirque du Soleil's most famous productions, including KÀ, which among other Las Vegas productions, inspired the 3D adventure film. Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away received its North American premiere in Montreal on Dec. 7, before expanding to theatres everywhere this Friday, Dec. 21.

Unique in scope, this immersive experience melds acts from seven live Cirque du Soleil shows in Las Vegas - "O", KÀ, Mystère, Viva ELVIS, CRISS ANGEL Believe, Zumanity and The Beatles LOVE -- into a circus love story produced, written and directed by Academy Award® nominee Andrew Adamson (Shrek, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe). The film stars Cirque du Soleil strap aerialists Igor Zaripov (The Aerialist) and former artist Erica Kathleen Linz (Mia) as the young couple. Presented by Paramount Pictures and Academy Award^® winner James Cameron (Avatar, Titanic), the film is a Cirque du Soleil production in association with Reel FX Inc., Strange Weather Films and CAMERON | PACE Group.
