New date for inquest into the death of Pierre Poulin announced

THUNDER BAY, ON, Nov. 13 /CNW/ - Dr. David H. Evans , Acting Regional Supervising Coroner for North Region, Thunder Bay Office, today announced that a new date has been set for the inquest into the death of Pierre Poulin originally scheduled to begin on November 26, 2009 .

Mr. Poulin , 38, died on May 12, 2006 , from injuries received during the course of his employment at a construction site in Hornepayne. Under the Coroners Act, an inquest is mandatory when a worker dies as a result of an accident occurring at a construction project.

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Poulin 's death and the jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

The inquest is expected to last three days.

The inquest will now begin at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 , at The Royal Canadian Legion Hall, 1131 Front Street, Hearst. Dr. David Legge will preside as inquest coroner and Mr. Pierre Payeur will be counsel to the coroner.
