New date for inquest into the death of Brett Walent announced

PETERBOROUGH, ON, Oct. 9 /CNW/ - Dr. Peter Clark , Regional Supervising Coroner for East Region, Peterborough Office, today announced that a new date has been set for the inquest into the death of Brett Walent originally scheduled to begin on October 28, 2009 .

Mr. Walent , 46, died on February 25, 2008 , at the Millhaven Institution in Bath. The circumstances of his death require that an inquest be held.

The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Walent 's death and the jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

The inquest will now begin at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 , at the Frontenac County courthouse, Courtroom D, 5 Court Street, Kingston. Dr. Ben Bechard will preside as inquest coroner and Mr. Ed Bradley will be counsel to the coroner.
