New company to invest $100M in energy efficiency

Leverages innovative financing developed by a non-profit

TORONTO, April 27, 2015 /CNW/ - Efficiency Capital Corp., launched by Toronto Atmospheric Fund (TAF) will allow building owners to undertake energy retrofits without debt, guaranteeing energy savings through specialized insurance.

TAF developed the Energy Savings Performance Agreement (ESPATM) and demonstrated it through retrofits to Harbourfront Centre, the YMCA of Greater Toronto, and social housing buildings. It then licensed the profitable model to Efficiency Capital, so that the ESPA could be offered more broadly. Energy waste in buildings is the primary source of climate pollution in cities.
