NEW CALGARY FARMERS' MARKET SET TO OPEN EARLY
…Current Market to Remain Open Until Christmas
CALGARY, Dec. 2 /CNW/ - The new Calgary Farmer's Market, originally set for joint occupancy in mid-January, will see vendors setting up their new kiosks as early as mid-December. The current market at Currie Barracks will remain open until December 23rd, with the new Blackfoot location opening to the public on February 4th.
"This is fantastic news," says Ken Aylesworth, General Manager of the market. "It's no secret to Calgarians that we've been working hard to make this vision a reality, and now we'll get there even earlier than expected." Aylesworth cites support of the more than 100 independent vendors, strong project management and the builder, as key reasons for the quick pace of development.
"The other side to this is that not only will customers see the new market earlier, but everyone can still shop at our current location right up until Christmas. The bottom line is that we continue to deliver on what Calgarians have come to expect of the Calgary Farmers' Market."
The new location on Blackfoot Trail offers the Calgary Farmers' Market a brand new and permanent home, making it the largest and most modern farmers' market in North America. In the weeks ahead the market will host a series of 'sneak-peaks' for community members, local leaders, and food industry professionals.
"This is the beginning of something very fresh, very innovative and very successful," says Aylesworth. "It'll be another key element of the great Calgary experience."
