NCR police and security partners conclude Canada Day 150th security operations

OTTAWA, July 2, 2017 /CNW/ - As Canada Day 150th celebrations are concluding, National Capital Region (NCR) police and security partners wish to thank Ottawa-Gatineau residents, Canadians and visitors for their cooperation as we ensured everyone's safety and security over the past few days of festivities.

We appreciated everyone's patience as our members worked diligently to ensure that we had security measures in place that balanced access to the grounds of Parliament Hill with the overall safety and security of yesterday's historical Canada Day celebrations and today's We Day festivities.

Thanks to the close collaboration with our municipal, provincial, and federal partners, as well as the extensive cooperation of the general public, this large scale event took place in a safe and peaceful manner. We are pleased to report that there were no security incidents related to the festivities.

In today's environment, it is essential that we have the appropriate security measures in place to ensure the safety and security of such major events as Canada Day. We pride ourselves as Canadians to be able to gather collectively to celebrate such occasions and to ensure that we can continue to do this in a safe and secure manner.
