CHARLOTTETOWN, PE, Jan. 8, 2014 /CNW/ - Today in Charlottetown, A Bold Vision, a national visioning conference for Canadian women announced the confirmation of its first visionary, the Right Honourable Kim Campbell, Canada's first and only female Prime Minister.
2014 marks the 150th anniversary of the Charlottetown Conference, where the Fathers of Confederation came together to discuss a vision that led to the creation of our nation. A Bold Vision is a national project designed to select 23 women to come together and create their vision for the next 150 years.
"The selection committee is very pleased that the Right Honourable Kim Campbell was nominated and has confirmed her participation in this historic event," announced Sara Roach-Lewis, chair of A Bold Vision. "As a woman that has spent her life breaking barriers and achieve firsts, Campbell is an inspiration to women in Canada and around the globe. We are excited to have her vast knowledge, experience and vision as part of the project."
A Bold Vision is also accepting nominations of women from across Canada to be one of the selected 23 Canadian women leaders that will participate in this first of its kind historic visioning session taking place in Prince Edward Island on September 26th, 2014 in the very place where the Fathers of Confederation met 150 years ago.
"In 1864, twenty-three men came together in Charlottetown. While women were not participants in the meetings at the time, today, women are not only participating, we are leaders shaping our country and the world," remarked the Right Honourable, Kim Campbell. "I am honoured to be a part of this historic project and I am sincerely looking forward to sitting with the 22 other Canadian women leaders as we seize the opportunity to express our vision for the future."
To date nominations have been received from every province in the country, representing a wide range of women from diverse backgrounds. Among the current nominees are a Nobel prize nominee, authors, political leaders, a rocket scientist, university students, social activists, artists and community volunteers.

It will be truly a momentous occasion when the selected 23 Canadian women visionaries come together in Prince Edward Island."
Also as part of the project, A Bold Vision will be hosting a Women's Leadership Conference from September 24th to 26th, 2014.
