OTTAWA, Oct. 15 /CNW Telbec/ - Rick Simon was acclaimed yesterday to a sixth consecutive term as the Assembly of First Nations' Regional Chief for Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.
"Regional Chief Simon has co-chaired our Chiefs committees on economic development and human resource development - two areas that are critical in building happy, healthy self-sufficient communities," said National Chief Shawn Atleo. "As the Executive Chair of the Mi'kmaq - Nova Scotia - Canada Tripartite Forum, Regional Chief Simon is very aware that working with all levels of government is key in creating economic and political power for our Peoples."
"Regional Chief Simon and I sat together for over five years at the AFN executive table, and I have relied upon his wisdom and experience," said National Chief Shawn Atleo. "It is very re-assuring to have Rick returning for another three year term. He will continue to be a valued voice of experience for our recently elected Regional Chiefs."
