National Bank Economists Once Again Recognized For Their Foreign Exchange Forecasts

MONTREAL, Oct. 21, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - National Bank economists were once again recognized by Bloomberg. Chief Economist and Strategist Stéfane Marion and Senior Economist Krishen Rangasamy were ranked third in the world for the accuracy of their currency forecasts over a one-year period ending September 30, 2015.

The ranking was based on Bloomberg's Foreign Exchange Forecasts Center, which examined the forecasts of 61 firms from across the world. Bloomberg's methodology evaluates—over a given period—not only the accuracy of the forecasts, but also their timing and directional accuracy. Exchange rate forecasts help investors, governments, institutions, businesses, consumers and others in their decision-making. 

"Our team strives to maintain the high standards which have become the hallmark of National Bank Financial Markets", said Stéfane Marion.

That recognition adds to several earlier honours received by Mr. Marion's team.

Bloomberg also ranked the Economics and Strategy team first among Canadian banks—and third worldwide—for its 2012-2013 forecasts on the Canadian dollar against the U.S. dollar. The team was also recognized three times for its forecasts of the U.S. economy.

In addition to Stéfane Marion and Krishen Rangasamy, the Economics and Strategy team is made up of economists Marc Pinsonneault, Paul-André Pinsonnault, Matthieu Arseneau and Warren Lovely.
