SCHAUMBURG, Illinois, April 11, 2012 /CNW/ - The National Association of Professional Background Screeners® has announced the formation of their third international chapter, NAPBS® Canada. The chapter is currently accepting applications for regular, associate and affiliate membership as well as founding members.
"The NAPBS Canada Chapter was established late last year as a result of the efforts of Canadian background screening companies to better serve the needs of Canadian companies, to represent the industry and to propose added value solutions to its members. NAPBS Canada is here and ready to go and we encourage others to join us now as we build the Chapter!" said NAPBS Canada Chair Nadine Lecomte.
NAPBS Canada has become the third international branch of the association, following NAPBS Europe and NAPBS Asia-Pacific (APAC) earlier in 2011. The current Board of Directors is comprised of Nadine Lecomte, GARDA Pre-employment Verifications; Michelle Leblond, First Advantage Canada Inc.; Julie Mclean, CKR Global HRservices; Teresa Adams, First Advantage Canada Inc.; and Tim Hardie of Hire Performance Inc.
The guiding principles of NAPBS Canada are to promote cultural and business practices unique to Canada; establish best practices for the pre-employment screening industry; create and implement an accreditation standard which promotes professionalism in pre-employment screening while meeting Canada's strict privacy laws that protect our clients, suppliers and screeners; establish a central voice for the industry as it continues to evolve; and educate members by raising their level of industry knowledge and professionalism.
Membership in NAPBS Canada offers companies and individuals the opportunity to have a voice within the industry, as well as the ability to take an active role in directing the future of the Chapter through committee participation. Membership also provides access to education, resources, networking opportunities and
member-only publications. The Chapter already has several committees in place to focus on such initiatives as membership, government relations and accreditation. Each of these committees provide additional venues for member and affiliate member involvement.
Founded in 2003 as a non-profit trade association, the National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS) represents the interests of more than 700 member companies around the world that offer tenant, employment and background screening. NAPBS provides relevant programs and training aimed at empowering members to better serve clients and maintain standards of excellence in the background screening industry, and presents a unified voice in the development of international, national, state and local regulations.
