Former National Vice-President of Annual Development with the Canadian Cancer Society takes the helm at Muscular Dystrophy Canada
TORONTO, April 14, 2016 /CNW/ - Muscular Dystrophy Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of Barbara Stead-Coyle as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Ms. Stead-Coyle has held several senior leadership positions in healthcare, government and the private sector. In her most recent role, she was the National Vice-President of Annual Development with the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) where she worked to standardize and align their annual revenue portfolio which included Relay For Life, direct response, special events and the well-known Daffodil Campaign.
Prior to this, Ms. Stead-Coyle was CEO of the Nova Scotia Division of CCS, where she completed a $15M capital campaign, increased revenues and led the Division to receiving the Charity Intelligence 4-star rating. She also led a successful campaign to ban flavored tobacco, including menthol, making Nova Scotia the first jurisdiction in the world to introduce such progressive legislation.
Prior to her work with CCS, Ms. Stead-Coyle served as the CEO of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation, doubling revenue and completing a $6M campaign to expand the cancer centre.
Ms. Stead-Coyle will join Muscular Dystrophy Canada on May 24th, 2016. She is looking forward to her arrival and the opportunity to connect with key stakeholder groups including: staff, people affected by neuromuscular disorders and their family members and caregivers, healthcare professionals, researchers, Fire Fighters, donors, Chapter and Community Network members, volunteers, and partner organizations.
