MUNICH, Germany, May 12, 2013 /CNW/ - Munich in a state of elation! At the end of the final home game of German Bundesliga team FC Bayern Munich, the club at last held the long-awaited championship trophy in its hands. Fans and players celebrated the club's 23rd championship victory exuberantly at Munich's Allianz Arena, with 10 thousand litres of wheat beer donated by long-standing premium sponsor Paulaner. Served by the pretty, traditionally garbed "Paulas" in classic 3-litre wheat beer glasses, the exuberant atmosphere on the field was punctuated by the customary beer showers. The Paulaner Brewery congratulates the club, and looks forward to more joint victories "made in Bavaria".
FC Bayern Munich and the Paulaner have celebrated many successes together, with the traditional Munich brewery having come on board in 2003 as a premium sponsor of Germany's most successful football club. The Paulaner Brewery was founded in 1634 by monks, who originally brewed exclusively for their own consumption. The company is headquartered in Munich, as it always has been, and has a staff of roughly 670 employees. Producing over 2.9 million hectolitres of beer, Paulaner is a market leader both in Germany and worldwide.
