Legacy of Canada's Veterans remembered at commemorative event in Ottawa
OTTAWA, Nov. 6, 2014 /CNW/ - Royal Galipeau, Member of Parliament for Ottawa–Orléans, on behalf of the Honourable Julian Fantino, Minister of Veterans Affairs, today joined members of the Royal Canadian Legion, the War Amps of Canada, Veterans, and local school children, to thank those who have served our country during the 19th Annual Veterans Appreciation Day.
During a ceremony of remembrance, MP Galipeau presented Veterans of the Second World War with limited- edition lapel pins and certificates in recognition of their remarkable contributions to ensuring Canada remains strong, proud and free. MP Galipeau also highlighted the importance of remembrance with those in attendance, including more than 300 young Canadians.

- Organized by Veterans Affairs Canada in partnership with the Billings Bridge Shopping Centre, the 19th Annual Veterans Appreciation Day featured a ceremony of remembrance, commemorative music, entertainment, and interactive displays.
- Booths hosted by organizations such as the Department of National Defence, the War Amps, Friends of the Canadian War Museum, the Company of Master Mariners of Canada, and the Royal Canadian Legion, provided visitors with information about the service and sacrifices of those who have proudly served our country.
