For six consecutive years, Moxie's backs Canadian team in world's top culinary showdown
CALGARY, April 2, 2012 /CNW/ - Moxie's Grill & Bar is delighted to announce, that once again, they have signed on as the title sponsor of the Canadian culinary team at the Bocuse d'Or, the world's most prestigious culinary competition. Today's announcement marks six consecutive years that Moxie's has been the title sponsor of the Canadian team at the biennial Bocuse d'Or event.
Laurids Skaarup, President of Moxie's Grill & Bar, explains, "The title sponsorship of Bocuse d'Or Canada means a great deal to us. Since 2006, when Bocuse d'Or Canada first approached us to partner with them, we have created a powerful partnership that is founded on core values like our passion for food, for hospitality and for teamwork. Even greater then that, both of our organizations believe in the power of food, in how it speaks to people and resonates with people. It is this belief that drives both of our teams to be the best everyday and to distinguish ourselves from our competition."
The Bocuse d'Or competition takes place at the end of January 2013, in Lyon, France. Founded in 1987 by legendary chef Paul Bocuse, who is widely accepted as the father of modern cuisine, the Bocuse d'Or is held every two years in Lyon. The competition sees 24 chefs from 24 countries competing to take home gold, sliver, or bronze and the respect of the global culinary community.
Bocuse d'Or Canada's Chef de Mission, Vincent Parkinson, said, "We feel so fortunate to have found a home in Moxie's; they are a true partner in every sense of the word. Further, I am delighted to align Bocuse d'Or with Canada's leading premium casual chain, as I believe Moxie's organization is a vital force driving the success of Canada's culinary arts. Our industry depends on teaching and nurturing young Canadian talent." Parkinson continued, "Working with Moxie's culinary team has shown me what teamwork looks like, what diversity looks like, what adaptability looks like, and what spirit looks like. There is a reason why Moxie's is the best at what they do, and their culinary team embodies what it takes to be the best: talent, discipline, determination, passion and an unwavering commitment to excellence."
Leading up to the competition, Moxie's plans to celebrate the sponsorship and engage its employees and guests in support of the Canadian Bocuse d'Or Team. Canada's Bocuse d'Or representative, Chef Alex Chen, will act as a mentor to Moxie's emerging chefs, who will benefit from all the learning this partnership brings.
"Moxie's is excited to renew our sponsorship," said Mr. Skaarup. "Moxie's is a fiercely proud Canadian company and we believe Canadian chefs can compete and win on the world stage. We are proud to work with Bocuse d'Or Canada in our joint efforts to see Canada on the podium in Lyon and in our pursuit to see Canada receive the world's most coveted culinary honour."

About Bocuse d'Or
The Bocuse d'Or was founded in 1987 by legendary French Chef Paul Bocuse and Albert Romain, organizer of the trade exhibition. Their vision was to create a competition that would bring the greatest chefs out from behind closed doors and onto the world stage. They wanted to share the atmosphere and life of a great kitchen and give an international audience the opportunity to see these great chefs at work. Nowhere else in the world of culinary arts is there such a concentration of talent, competitive rivalry, and exquisite cookery than at the Bocuse d'Or. This is the most prestigious culinary competition in the world, a showcase for the talents of chefs who represent 24 countries in an intense, highly charged, and extremely chaotic atmosphere. Bocuse d'Or takes place over two days in conjunction with SIRHA, the International Hotel Catering and Food Trade Exhibition.
