TORONTO, Sept. 13, 2016 /CNW/ - Morning Glory Cycling Club ("MGCC") is pleased to announce that, in partnership with Gears Bike Shop ("Gears"), the Ontario Cycling Association ("OCA"), and Minto Properties, it is holding its 5th annual bike drive on Sunday October 2nd, 2016 from 1 pm until 4 pm at 111 Pacific Avenue. The goal of this annual initiative is to provide used, refurbished bicycles to children and young adults in Parkdale & High Park.
The bikes have been generously donated by MGCC members, friends, and the community at large in order to provide bikes to children and young adults without the financial means to obtain bicycles on their own. Each bike received has been tuned up by Gears to be ready for donation. We are also grateful that members of the Toronto Police Service will be onsite to help run the event for bike safety along with Evergreen who will be providing bike fitting and light tune ups. The OCA has also stepped in, donating bingo funds to support bells, helmets, and locks that will be handed out to recipients of these bikes.
The Morning Glory Cycling Club (www.mgridetoronto.com) is a community of like-minded individuals who love to see the sun rise. With over 1000 registered members spanning its Leaside, High Park, & Oakville Chapters, the MGCC provides a very inclusive and welcoming environment for all cyclists, new and old, to come out and enjoy the benefits of riding a bike. Started in 2008 with a membership of 2, the MGCC has brought together those who share a passion for cycling to inspire healthier living.
Our thanks to CNW Group for sponsoring this announcement.
