More than a million dollars to support the expansion and improve the productivity of three businesses in the Témiscamingue RCM

The Government of Canada supports Temisko, Cardinal Equipment and Les Jardins de l'Île projects

The Government of Canada is committed to creating close partnerships with Quebec businesses to support their efforts to innovate and to increase their productivity and competitiveness, while contributing to the economic vitality of the regions, creating good-quality jobs and improving citizens' quality of life.

Temisko, Cardinal Equipment and 4229339 Canada inc.- Les Jardins de l'Île will be able to rely on financial assistance from the Government of Canada to improve their production capacity, acquire strategic equipment and continue to grow. Their respective projects will generate investments totalling more than $2.2 million and will create five jobs in the region.

The Government of Canada's repayable contributions total $1,022,146 and were announced by Stéphane Lauzon, Member of Parliament for Argenteuil–La Petite-Nation and Parliamentary Secretary for Sport and Persons with Disabilities, on behalf of the Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, the Honourable Navdeep Bains.

The funding, allocated under CED's Quebec Economic Development Program, will enable recipient businesses to attain their objectives.

Temisko	A $755,986 repayable contribution out of a total investment of $1,511,971 Founded in 1969, Temisko (1983) Inc. specializes in the design and construction of customized semi-trailers and platforms to transport heavy, non-standard and extensible equipment. The company employs 95 people in Notre-Dame-du-Nord. The purpose of the project was to support the company's growth by allowing it to increase its production capacity, expand its plant and acquire new equipment. CED supported the acquisition and installation of production equipment, such as aluminum welders, an automated welding robot, a forklift and overhead cranes. The project created two jobs.
Cardinal Equipment Inc.	A $166,160 repayable contribution out of a total investment of $332,320 Since 1980, Cardinal Equipment Inc. has been manufacturing equipment mainly for sawmills and biomass conversion, such as heavy-duty electric carriages, log loaders, various types of conveyors, tilt hoists, board edgers, resaws, live decks and accumulation bins. The company employs 31 people in Angliers. The purpose of the project is to enhance the company's performance in order to support its growth and improve its productivity. This includes replacing a plasma cutting table with a larger new-generation cutting table equipped with a five-axis head, as well as a greater capacity and precision HD plasma cutting system, and rearranging the workshop to install this cutting table, which will increase the plant's capacity. The project enabled the acquisition of the plasma cutting table, its installation and the rearrangement of the workshop.
4229339 Canada inc.- Les Jardins de l'Île	A $100,000 repayable contribution out of a total investment of $447,400 Founded in 2004, Jardins de l'Île is a limited liability company that farms land and grows raspberries, beans, squash, asparagus as well as medicinal plants (wheat grass and sprouting alfalfa). All its products are certified organic by ECOCERT®. Les Jardins de l'Île employs four people in Duhamel-Ouest. The project aims to support the company's expansion through the introduction and implementation of the agri-food processing of vegetables. CED assistance will be used for the construction of a building, and the acquisition and installation of processing equipment, including a scale, steamers, a cold room, a built-in freezer and a packaging machine. The project should create three jobs in the near future.
