History, art and family fun on the program!

MONTRÉAL, March 31, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - This week, the official programming for Montréal's 375th anniversary is chock full of historical discoveries, with Arts nomades and Cultivons nos raciness leading the way! The latter gives people the chance to discover time-honoured Aboriginal gardening techniques. During this festive week, family fun comes to the fore with a trip to the sugar shack – right in the heart of the city as well as a community project to create a 1,400-metre-long garland that will festoon the streets of the Point-Saint-Charles neighbourhood.

Creative workshops will be held at the Centre culturel Georges-Vanier as part of "The 375th Garland". Arts Nomades celebrates the 375th
Since 2006, the Cirque du Soleil has been running the Arts Nomades program in the borough of Saint Michel and has introduced it to all its primary schools. In partnership with the community and the CSDM (Montreal school board), Arts Nomades allows children participating in the program to express themselves through art workshops, experience the stage and discover cultural venues.

Arts Nomades embodies the editorial line of Montreal's 375th anniversary: "building bridges" each day. Over the years, we have seen the undeniable power of the arts to forge ties as well as the positive impact workshops have had on relationships between youth, teachers and families.

Inspired by the festive spirit that permeates Montreal, the Cirque du Soleil has decided to organize a meeting on April 4 at TOHU and offer an artistic performance in each school. This celebration represents the Cirque's ongoing commitment to remain active and involved in Saint-Michel's elementary schools.

MTL375 Rosemont Petite-Patrie
As of December 21, 2016, a pop-up art gallery will appear in several locations around the Rosemont-La Petite Patrie neighbourhood. For Montréal's 375th anniversary, Artgang Galerie is committed to actively contributing to the artistic revitalization of the neighbourhood with the MTL375 Rosemont Petite-Patrie project (http://www.mtl375.com). Artgang Galerie plans to co-produce and distribute at least 375 public art interventions around the neighbourhood. These interventions are meant to unite the neighbourhood's residents and generate enthusiasm in the area. Produced by professional and emerging artists, more than a hundred works from different backgrounds and made of various mediums will be presented to the public.

It will also be possible to follow the evolution of the project, to consult the collection of work and to learn more about the artists involved on the website www.mtl375.com, which will be launched at the same time as the pop-up gallery.

A second wave of work in this project will be launched in spring 2017. Several other public art interventions are also forthcoming.
