Éventium unveils the event program
MONTREAL, Oct. 20, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - In less than sixty days, Montreal will be hosting Smart City Expo 2014 at the Palais des congrès de Montreal. The event is the fourth edition of an international congress that is also held in Barcelona, Bogota and Kyoto. Montreal is proud to be the first city in North America to host a Smart City Expo and to thereby take the lead in advancing the smart city concept on this continent. The conference program has just been unveiled and registration is now open to participants. Organized by Éventium and Fira Barcelona, Smart City Expo Montreal is supported by the United Nations, whose participation will guide the program in many directions. Radio-Canada will be the official presenter.
"The quality of international speakers we have for this first edition of Smart City Expo in North America demonstrates the attractiveness of Montreal for the business community of the world. The congress will also be an excellent opportunity for Quebec cities to be inspired by best practices from smart cities," explained François Morin, CEO of Éventium.
Smart City Expo Montreal is honoured to have the attendance of Harout Chitilian, Chairman of the City Council and in charge of smart city and information technologies initiatives at the City of Montreal. Moreover, an expert committee composed of 25 professionals under the patronage of Paul Lewis, Dean of Planning at the University of Montreal, helped define the personality of Smart City Montreal and the orientations of the conferences and workshops.
"It is with honour that I accepted to be honorary president of Smart City Montreal, as those three days will provide the opportunity to discuss the future of our cities with major public administrators and renowned experts in the field, and with decision-makers of globally renowned smart cities such as Copenhagen and Stockholm," said Mr. Lewis.
