MONTREAL, Aug. 7, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Mr. André Bourbeau, President of the Montreal International Musical Competition (MIMC), is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Christiane LeBlanc as General and Artistic Director of the MIMC. Ms. LeBlanc, who has closely followed the Competition's development since its establishment and played a direct role in ensuring its growth over the past three years as a member of the board of directors, takes up her new position as of September 4. She replaces Mr. Jacques Marquis, who is passing on the torch after 10 years of loyal service to the MIMC.
Christiane LeBlanc brings to the position more than 25 years of experience acquired with Société Radio-Canada, where she created the Espace musique station and was instrumental in developing Radio-Canada's Web music service, Espace.mu, and the Bande à part multiplatform group, three divisions she led with remarkable success. She was in charge for many years of the CBC/Radio-Canada National Competition for Young Performers and spearheaded the Révélations Radio-Canada Musique initiative.
Also active on the international front, Ms. LeBlanc served as Chair of the Commission musique des Radios Francophones Publiques and as Radio-Canada's delegate to the European Broadcasting Union's Music Group. As a radio producer, she has covered the world's leading international music competitions for the production of various special radio broadcasts. She holds a Master's degree in Musicology from McGill University and a diploma from HEC in human resource management.
With her extensive knowledge of music and its key players, solid experience in management and vast network of national and international contacts, Christiane LeBlanc will bring all of these professional skills and assets to bear as she leads the Montreal International Musical Competition to new and greater heights.
