Local and Global Leaders in Communities Across the Country

MONTREAL, May 26, 2017 /CNW/ - With support from Sid Lee, District 3 & Concordia University, more than 300 Montrealers will gather on October 11th and 12th at the Sid Lee offices to participate in groundbreaking sessions on the future of energy, mobility, healthcare and finance as part of SingularityU Canada Summit live-stream experience. The local event will enable students, startups and other local curious minds to discuss how technologies like artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, and digital medicine will impact the way we live and work and the role that Montreal, Quebec, and Canada have in shaping our collective future.

"At Sid Lee, we believe creativity is a source and a catalyst for building inspiring experiences," added JF Bouchard, Chairman of Sid Lee and C2. "As we have seen this week with C2, Canada and Montreal, are hotbeds of innovation. By bringing the SingularityU Canada Summit experience to Montreal we are building on the conversations and inspiration that started at C2 and helping to grow Montreal's dynamic innovation ecosystem."

The Summit will take participants on a journey from inspiration to action by bringing the top global experts from SU including Peter H. Diamandis, Salim Ismail, Lisa Solomon and others together with Canadian leaders from across business, technology, and government.

Montreal's District 3 was the local catalyst that stood up to actively ensure the Montreal community is part of this important conversation. "District 3's mission to help people transform their dreams into reality and ideas into impact aligns perfectly with SingularityU Canada Summit's mission to improve the future of Canada, and the world, by inspiring and enabling Canadians to take on the big ideas that address humanity's greatest challenges," said Xavier-Henri Herve, District 3 Executive Director and Coach. "We are thrilled to be working with Sid Lee to bring the SingularityU Canada Summit experience to Montreal."

About the SingularityU Canada Summit
SingularityU Canada Summit is the premier launch event of a new movement in Canada seeking to bring together the leading Canadian and International thought leaders to inspire Canadians to shape the Future of Canada and drive global impact. A forum for true debate and uncommon conversations about how technologies like artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, and digital medicine will impact the way we live and work.

The inaugural SU Canada Summit will take place on October 11 – 12 at the Evergreen Brickworks in Toronto, Ontario and will move to different cities every year.

Building the Canadian incarnation of Singularity University was made possible when a grassroots movement of Canadian SU alumni brought together a visionary group of founding members including BMO, CIBC, CN, Deloitte, FairVentures, Goodmans LLP, Google, the Government of Ontario, RBC, Rogers Communications, Scotiabank, Suncor, and TD Bank Group. Together this initial group is on a mission to share SU's exponential mindset and bold thinking with Canadians from coast to coast to coast.

The group is working closely with leading edge innovation hubs, academic institutions, and NGOs across the country to create a pan-Canadian network of partners who wish to come together and discuss Canada's role in shaping our collective future
